Breaking Routines

It’s funny how you get into routines, and don’t even realize it. My routine is usually pretty simple. Get up, take care of my dog, take care of my really old cat, yeah.. she’s like 18! That’s like a million years old in cat lives. Then take a shower, clothing, misc grooming stuff, coffee, cause there always needs to be coffee then RPA. The best part, of course being the RPA part.  It’s a pretty decent routine. It’s comfortable, casual, low on the stress level most days, so it’s good. Most days I can do it on autopilot, if need be. Specially the days that I happened to have been up super late the night before. Meh…it happens.

It’s always interesting when something breaks the routine. You do things different, change things up, make new routines, new patterns. The way you do that is… with a vacation – so that’s what I did. It was something that I had kind of planned to do for awhile, if I could. See my friend recently turned 21, and always wanted a big ol bash someplace special. Some place I’ve been a few times now. Someplace that rocks it both day and night. Figured it out yet? Las Vegas, Nevada. The ultimate party town.

So I mentioned some general plans to a few friends and then the next thing I know there are 18 people going on this, vacation! Imagine, 18 of your closest friends. Different flights, different hotels, different everything. Can you say controlled chaos? The only thing staying the same is the location. It really is a crazy party town. Giant frozen drinks on just about every corner. So many Elvis impersonators, you practically trip over them some days. Hot baking sunshine, and people. Hundreds upon hundreds of people. People watching capital of the world, if you’re so inclined. I read somewhere that the population triples on some weekends, and I can completely believe it. I arrived on Saturday and it was nuts, from the moment the plane landed, but a good kind of nuts. It still amazes me that there are gambling slot machines in the airport. If I gambled, I suppose I would be excited. As it was, I was just happy to feel the warmth of the sun on my skin, that baking Nevada heat. It was about 99 degrees Celsius, each and every day. A few days, even hotter. Since I come from the colder northern part of the US, that’s more awesome than I can even describe to you. Suffice to say it makes me unbearably happy to just be in a warm climate like that.

So back to the routine, remember? As much fun as my vacation was with all my crazy friends, some of which won lots of cash and some that didn’t, it is Vegas after all. Not like they lose money out there. If anyone has perfected the art of making money, it’s those folks. Let me assure you. I’m honestly glad to come back. Come back to my routine, my pets, my coffee, my RPA. Not having a keyboard for a week was a good break, it was. But not one I’m willing to make too often. I missed all my online friends, and my messages, and my duties, all the good and the bad. It was hard not to think of this place. Not to wonder what was going on. Which new games were created, or who was winning the last post is the winner game downtown. How many times Anne might have fired Naz this week, and how all the mods were doing.

Of course, that doesn’t mean I won’t do it again. Take a vacation that is, but it will probably have to wait until the summertime. Although I certainly will miss the sunshine baking me daily. I’ll just have to wait a few more months is all, it will come back in a while. Till then, I have my pictures that I took, and let me tell you, there were a lot! Oh! Before I forget, my friend that wanted this special birthday, had so much fun she slept for about 26 hours straight when we got back *grin* So that alone tells me she had the best time. But most of all, I’m back to my routine, my pets, and my keyboard and back to my RPA. Aaahhhhh. Now where is that coffee….
