Wattz: NaNoWriMo

OH MY GOD NANOWRIMO NANOWRIMO NANOWRIMO—

*ahem*

I mean, oh my god, it’s that time of the year for NaNoWriMo! Here at RPA, we endorse the right for mankind (and forumkind) to exercise its right to create with reckless abandon. Yes, that’s right, you too can write up a 50,000 word novel in a month. Just hash that shit out, don’t fight the flow! Your mind’s inner creativity implores you to let it out, to let it come to fruition, and to be crafted into something marvelous once the month’s all over! Only you can prevent forest fires, boy do we need scouting!

“But Wattz!” (you may ask) “This writing is sucking! How can I possibly write a novel in a month with all these monstrous typos, shallow characters, and bland plot points throwing up all over the screen?”

The answer is simple, my friend. In the (paraphrased) words of the Vlogbrothers, allow yourself to suck. Don’t fight it. No first draft of anything is perfect. It takes time, it takes patience, it takes hours and hours and days of editing to make a shiny novel. But how can that full-length novel come out if that backspace keeps highlighting all your trepidations?

Don’t worry, we all know you’re a talented writer. We know you have beautiful things to say, and we know that when you get on a roll, you can accomplish the most realistic of character-developing scenes. But if nobody was ever allowed to suck, how could those precious metals of the imagination be further refined?

How liberating, to be given the opportunity to write without excessive outside judgment.

So if you’d like, go ahead and give this a try. Let us know how you’re doing, too! We’d love to hear from you.

(And please, rip off the backspace key. It’ll be your worst enemy during NaNoWriMo.)

Best regards,

Wattz
